The past few weeks have been a scary and uncertain time for many people, but with restrictions in Australia being lifted and the feel of excitement and positivity in the air, we are starting June off with a bang!
A new Twosisters the Label collection launches on the 1st of June and we spoke to our creative director and head designer, Ruby Su, to find out a little more about what goes on behind the scenes.
I’ve been really inspired by prints recently and you’ll definitely see that in this collection.
Twosisters the Label have traditionally worked with a lot of plain lace because that’s what I love and feel the most comfortable with. However, I really wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and work with different fabrics when designing this collection!
I feel like this collection still captures the essence of Twosisters the Label, but there’s definitely some fun prints in there that you won’t have seen from us before!
I’ve always loved lace and the reason Pauline and I started Twosisters the Label is because we wanted to offer high quality lace dresses at an affordable price.
I’m beginning to realise that working with lace doesn’t mean that I have to stick to one colour because there are so many options for lace material that come in beautiful prints!
I also really value feedback from our customers and we’ve had so many people ask us for styles that aren’t lace, so I’m trying to add versatility to our collections to ensure that there’s something in there for everyone!
When a style does really well for us, I deep dive into why it worked to see if there is an option to reimagine the style in a different colour, print or fabric.
Sometimes, I’ll take the design apart, change a few features and release an updated version of the style.
Thankfully, Australia doesn’t get very cold, so I don’t feel like there is too big of a difference when designing for the different seasons.
I do try to release styles with longer sleeves and hemlines in the winter, but I feel like the average Aussie girl always has summer on her mind and will still want to buy a cute mini in preparation for summer! I love that we get sun almost all year round in Australia, we’re honestly so lucky!
I think the skirts are very versatile and I imagine them being worn with an oversized sweater and ankle boots to brunch.
I’m all about layering in winter, so I can see the dresses being worn under sweaters for a casual look or with a long coat to a formal event.
Everywhere!
I honestly feel like the pieces in this launch are so versatile!
The skirt is the perfect length, so it won’t look out of place at the office but is fun enough to wear to parties.
If your workplace is casual, pair the dresses with a sweater over the top. For a little more shape, cinch your waist in with a belt. If you’re heading out for drinks after work, take the sweater off and you’re ready!
I love oversized, chunky sweaters paired with midi skirts and ankle boots.
A lot of the styles from this collection have been designed so that they can be worn this way, even the dresses!
Yes, the Maia skirt in the leopard print!
It’s perfect for pairing with a sweater in winter and definitely a style that I would wear again and again and keep in my wardrobe forever.
I can't wait for you guys to see this collection and hope you all love it as much as I do!
